In our last update, we talked about the big construction projects we had left. We are so excited to announce plumbing is complete and checked off that list!! In short, the plumbers came and started the work by running the pipes in the wall. We were then left to close up the wall, do some electrical, and install a cabinet with a sink outside our bathroom, before they could come back to hook up all our fixtures and turn the water back on.
We decided on a faux brick look to create an accent wall. After purchasing our paneling, attaching it to the top of the mini van, we started to head back to the studio….about 100 yards from the store, they flew off the van and shattered into lots of pieces right in the middle of the road. Seriously!?! Determined to not waste the money we just spent on our faux brick, we got creative. Why not create a distressed/patched/old brick wall? It may look more realistic after all. Here is our process…
After nailing all the brick pieces up, we mixed a little paint into our leftover drywall ,mud and started applying it into the cracks. That mud, mudding tools, and mudding experience came in handy after all!? We then let that first layer of mud dry, and I came back and got it to the finishing stage.
We then got some of the electrical done that would set the plumber up to be able to install the water softner, water filter, and new water heater.
The plumber came back and got it all hooked up, and we now have a working bathroom and a new sink outside the bathroom! It’s beautiful!I have never been so giddy washing paintbrushes, as I was using that sink this week. God is so good and continues to provide and pave the way for this studio to be open!Isn’t it amazing what can happen and the problems we can be fix if we get creative and use our imaginations!? We hope you have been able to create something you are proud of this week.
We have some electrical work still to complete. We still need a sign, some storage pieces and a set of doors. We are so close!
We are working hard and getting close so being able to open this place. We are working on a schedule for upcoming workshops and can’t wait to use this place to foster creativity and grow relationships in our community. Thank you to so many of you who have shared this vision, encouraged us on, prayed for us, and even given to help provide and make this last milestone possible. God is so good. Thank you for being used in this story to create a place for our community.
